(Event Report) WillOfD from Saudi Arabia is Crowned Champion at the Captain Tsubasa: Dream Team Dream Championship 2019 Finals

KLab Inc. (Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President & CEO: Hidekatsu Morita, hereinafter referred to as "KLab") hosted the finals for the worldwide DREAM CHAMPIONSHIP 2019 tournament for its head-to-head football simulation game, Captain Tsubasa: Dream Team on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at the Japan Football Museum in Tokyo where WillOfD, who won the Dubai qualifier, went on to win the championship cup.
16 top players who fought it out through qualifying rounds since April of this year, gathered in Tokyo to participate in the championship. Heated battles unfurled as the players all fought to be crowned the first-ever world champion.
At the end of these fierce matches featuring 16 of the best players from all around the world, WillOfD, the finalist from the Dubai Qualifier, emerged victorious and was presented with the champion's certificate and the championship trophy. The champion was also presented with a limited edition illustration drawn for the tournament by the creator of "Captain Tsubasa", Yoichi Takahashi.

In addition to the matches played out by the finalists, there were also a variety of other events to tie in with the finals, including events exclusive to the tournament venue.
The Japan Football Museum Comes Alive with Captain Tsubasa!
Serving as the venue for the tournament, the Japan Football Museum came alive with Captain Tsubasa designs and decorations starting from the entrance and expanding all throughout the museum.
A special Captain Tsubasa: Dream Team exhibition was also staged on the 2nd basement level (admission required) showcasing a treasure trove of items, including limited edition uniforms of the national Japan team for each of the 20 characters that appear in the game and signed memorabilia from Yoichi Takahashi.

The creator of "Captain Tsubasa", Yoichi Takahashi also made an appearance as a special guest and watched the finals tournament to the very end. This wonderful surprise, totally befitting of a worldwide finals tournament, was met with cheers from the spectators.
"WillOfD" Becomes the World No. 1 Player!
The matches were played out by the finalists who fought through the qualifiers and it was apparent the competition was high level from the very first whistle.
中國澳門-W.P., ranked first place in the Online Qualifiers and who was also a popular choice to take the championship cup, was taken out of the picture in an unexpected loss in his first match to 舒曼, who qualified at 13th place in the Online Qualifiers.
The semifinal matches were also not without drama. The only Japanese qualifier of the 16 finalists, "Tanaka-san DL" made a brave attempt at a comeback to score one goal against "WillOfD", who was in the lead with two, but could not find the extra goals to come away with the win.
The final match was fought out between "煩凸西@Chan奴", ranked at 15th place in the Online Qualifiers, and "WillOfD", winner of the Dubai Qualifier. It was a tense battle of offense and defense, where even the slightest mistake could mean the end of the road, finishing at 1-1 before going to a penalty shootout. "WillOfD" claims the title of champion in his fifth penalty shoot-out! With this, WillOfD successfully becomes the no. 1 player in the world.

Thanks to all your support, the DREAM CHAMPIONSHIP 2019 that kicked off in April has come to a successful end. It was amazing to watch players from all over the world make improvements to their games and devise a range of strategies to put on a heated tournament. The game has become what it is today thanks to the great series, "Captain Tsubasa," created by Yoichi Takahashi, football, all of you who gathered at the venue and watched the livestream, and also thanks to every player from around the world.

Overview of Dream Championship 2019
16 top players who fought through the Offline Qualifiers held in four cities around the world and the Online Qualifiers held within the game gathered in Tokyo on Saturday, September 14 to participate in the Finals.
The Offline Qualifiers started this year in April with the Dubai Qualifier, before moving on to Tokyo, Paris, and finally, Hong Kong. The Online Qualifiers started in May of this year with the Online Qualifier Finals being played out on Friday, August 9.
